2022 Choral Banquet

Our 2022 Choral Banquet was held on Friday, May 6th, 2022. Our students and their families enjoyed one more time to get together, taking pictures at the selfie wall, and sharing a delicious dinner catered by Johnny’s Pizza. After dinner, we enjoyed viewing some of the end of year slideshow as well as watching the 2022 Spring Show slideshow. Dr. John Odom then took the stage to present our students with their awards for the year including letters and letter bars, Honor Chorus and All State participation recognition, recognition of the spring show student choreographers and presentation of our senior photo books. Our Choral Board Scholarship Chairperson then presented Corbin McEver, Chloe Millsapps and Mahri Lunn with scholarships funded by the choral board as they continue to explore music in their college journeys. The night ended with the Outstanding Choral Student Awards, recognizing the efforts of one student per choir and then an overall Director’s Award. SMHS Chorus Performs at 9/11 Tribute

The Starr’s Mill High School Chorus performed at the Fayette Count 9-11 Tribute held at the Fayetteville City Center Park. The SMHS Chorus performed three musical selections in honor of the lives lost and the heroism of those who worked to save lives on September 11th. One selection included the “Kyrie” movement from Rene Clausen’s work “Memorial”, a four movement work for chorus and orchestra that was commissioned in remembrance of that fateful day. Special thanks to Mr. Kufchak from Rising Starr Middle School for leading the group during this special tribute.
